COMMUNITY

We love our community!

Whether it is in Edmonton, Bogota, Vancouver, Los Llanos, Regina… People are the reason we exist. Since 2017 we have been collaborating at different events to connect with our communities, doing what we know best: sharing Sabroso’s food!

In Canada, we make our best effort to engage with communities as much as we can, and we firmly commit to devoting the best of our energy and time to help and contribute back to those in need. Outside of Canada, our efforts are reflected in the partnerships we have made with our suppliers. Our product supply is sourced directly from farmers that work very hard to enhance the quality of living within their communities. We focus our efforts to ensure that we support the wonderful people that works the land and grow the amazing products we bring to your table.

2022
We had the opportunity to participate for a consecutive second year in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's event held in Edmonton on May 29, 2022. We are proud to say that we were able to reach our fundraising goal with the effort of our #SabrosoCares team, family, friends, and customers. We also focused on raising awareness and sharing relevant information to help people understand and look for signs of dementia.

2021
Sabroso Foods participated in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in Edmonton on May 30, 2021. #SabrosoCares team helped raise funds on behalf of the Alzheimer Society so that they can meet their growing demand for programs and services. These and other resources make all the difference in how people affected by dementia can manage the disease and live life to the fullest. No matter how small or big, we are making a difference in people’s lives affected by dementia.
2020
Since May of 2020, we joined efforts with Holy Trinity Anglican Church and partnered with Old Strathcona Youth Society in providing lunches for the kids of this exceptional youth group. It is a fantastic group and a wonderful way to help our youth. Regardless of the unexpected challenges brought by Covid-19, we have still tried our best to support Marian Centre with food donations. We tried our best to provide them with “fresh from the oven treats,” which the community has been very grateful for, and that fills our hearts with joy.
2019
During 2019, we have lent a hand to Marian Centre in Edmonton, providing food donations and volunteering time. We are fortunate to work with such a wonderful group of people, not only the staff at the Centre but their volunteers. It is delightful to work with these amazing people in our city! In December, we organized a Musical Evening Fundraiser in partnership with Holy Trinity Anglican Church to collect funds for the Christmas Hampers for the Edmonton King Edward School families. It was a fun evening full of music, dancing, and food. We raised $800, which helped reach the goal of $2,600 for this cause. In October, we collaborated with the Spanish For Charity Annual Fundraiser Event. This time the cause was to Help Low-Income Families Stay in Honduras. It was an afternoon filled with dances from Latin-American countries, stand-up comedy, music, and of course, delicious food from around the world! This event raised $3,000.
2018
In July, we participated in Carnaval del Sol in Vancouver, BC. It is a 2-day event filled with music, activities, dances, and, yes, food! We had a booth selling our staple fruit smoothies and arepas. It was a great event to share our Latin culture diversity! In October, we joined efforts, once again, with Spanish For Charity to raise funds to support Single Moms in El Salvador. The sale of soccer items and some food items were the theme of this event. We were able to raise $750 to support three women in El Salvador.
2017
In July, we participated in Carnaval del Sol in Vancouver, BC, and Edmonton Carnaval in Edmonton, AB. Both events allowed us to feature some of our products and share the music and different activities with these great communities! In October, we partnered with Spanish For Charity in support of the PRO-VENEZUELA fundraiser event. This event gathered hundreds of people from our Edmonton community for a fun afternoon of music, activities, and food to benefit Venezuelan families that had migrated to Colombia due to the difficult situation in their home country. The event raised $3,700 and was able to help 26 families from Venezuela.
